Position: Director, Paffenbarger Research Center
Division: PRC
Position Responsibilities: The Director, Paffenbarger Research Center is responsible for collaborating with the ADA Foundation’s Scientific Research Committee to set the research agenda of the internationally renowned Paffenbarger Research Center (PRC) in Gaithersburg, MD and manages the PRC's resources to execute the agenda; guiding PRC scientists engaged in cutting edge research on topics related to oral health and is also expected to lead his or her own independent research effort. This position has overall responsibility for PRC operations and reports to Executive Director, ADA Foundation.
Requirements: The ADA Foundation is an Affirmative Action employer and has minimum requirements for all of its positions. This position has the following minimum requirements: Ph.D. in a physical or biological science; minimum of 10 years experience leading a major research organization, including setting the research agenda, budgeting, mentoring and recruiting professional staff; planning research facilities and securing equipment and grant funding.; demonstrated ability to successfully lead high-level knowledge workers and to manage highly complex organization systems and processes; experience as a spokesperson to high-level external audiences; basic non-technical knowledge of patent law; a record of publication in refereed journals and presentations to professional audiences. This position also requires experience in the following: negotiating license agreements or other contracts; making use of collaborations to leverage effectiveness; serving on scientific panels and serving as a member of a senior management team and reporting to executive level management and boards. Candidate must bring with him or her grant-funded independent research projects. Highly desirable skills include: Dental degree. Industry experience; experience teaching in an academic environment. This position is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
